On Wednesday 3rd June at Sun Pier House, Chatham, Medway Youth Trust along with MVA made their #iwill Pledge. The event gave the young people of Medway the opportunity to showcase all the hard work they had achieved over the past year. This included, videos and live case studies of many social action projects that young people of MYT have completed.
#iwill is a national campaign that aims to make social action part of life for as many 10 to 20 year-olds as possible by the year 2020. Through collaboration and partnership it is spreading the word about the benefits of youth social action, working to embed it in the journey of young people and creating fresh opportunities for the participation. The campaign is being coordinated by the charity Step Up To Serve.
Emily Dyson from Step Up To Serve joined us to explain what the #iwill pledge is and how we as an organisation can help to achieve these goals to make a better future for our young people. Other organisations who attended the event were also encouraged to make their own #iwill pledges.
This was also an opportunity to announce MYT’s achievement in gaining the Investing in Volunteers quality standard earlier this year. This is a great achievement for everyone at MYT and shows how much we value the hard work all our volunteers do.
As well being a very informative event, everyone who attended had a great time and left inspired to get involved in social action.
