This training session will be on proactive strategies that we can embed into our approach when working with young people with additional needs. It will include a general awareness of a variety of specific additional needs before focusing on specific strategies to engage, include, support and progress our young people giving them every opportunity to succeed.
Additional needs covered within this session include: Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Speech Language and Communication Difficulties, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, ADHD/ADD, Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and Psychosis and Personality Disorders.
The sesson will be lead by Jody Sharp and Hannah Burke.
Jody is the NCS Manager at the My Trust and has over 12 years experience working with a wide range of young people from different backgrounds. Having worked for the My Trust for nearly 8 years much of her experience stems from work with vulnerable groups and those with additional needs. Hannah is a post-16 additional needs specialist. She has worked within the education sector for 10 years in a variety of different roles. She is a champion for inclusion and equality. She works to ensure that vulnerable young people are able to transition successfully into their chosen career and have every life opportunity alongside mainstream peers.
