I run my own business consultancy, offering advice and support across a wide range of subjects and business's. I have some non-executive directorships, one with a major national retailer. For twenty six years prior to this I ran my own DIY regional Wholesaler business with a turnover of approximately £10m. I sold this to a competitor. Between 1972 to 1974 I worked with Eagle Star Insurance as an Inspector (Salesman) and obtained ACII the Insurance professional qualification. Between 1974 and 1980, I was territory salesman, Regional Assistant, Area Manager and finally Product manager at Kimberly Clark. I was appointed Chair of Governors at The Rochester Grammar School in 2004, having been a governor since 1998; my daughters were pupils in the school. In 2005, I helped start the Medway Governors Association, and was its first Chairman for three years. In 2006, I joined as Governor Representative the School Forum, and became Chairman in 2008. I joined the Governing body of Brompton Academy in 2009.
