Virginia Chalk - Skills & Employability Adviser in East Sussex

07 July 2014

I love working with young people, helping them to decide on next steps and options to enhance their career and lifeskills.  This is very rewarding and exciting and great to see someone taking steps to achieve their ambitions.

I have worked as a teacher, an NVQ assessor, a Careers Adviser, Connexions Personal Adviser and now an Employability and Skills Adviser.  All that acquired knowledge is really useful in this role and helps me to give good all round information and advice.

I love travelling and finding out about different countries and cultures, Burma, Africa, America, Australia, Syria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland – and more – so I am very lucky and work hard to pay for all the holidays!

I have worked over 20 years in the education, training and employment sectors, teaching, assessing NVQ’s and offering careers guidance.

I enjoy working with young people helping them to realise their potential and achieve their ambitions. Sometimes it can be very challenging but seeing a young person take a small step to make a positive change is very rewarding and the little steps are the building blocks to a great career and lifestyle.

My two passions are my family and travelling.  I enjoy exploring new countries and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds.
