MYCareer is one of 13 programmes funded by The Careers and Enterprise Company from their Personal Guidance investment fund.
Through this programme, MY Trust is partnering with 17 schools across the South East in order to offer personal guidance support to students in Y10/11 with a special educational need (SEN) but who do not have an education, health and care plan (EHCP).
Personal Guidance for students
Each student identified will be invited to participate in 2 group work sessions as well as 2 1:1 personal guidance interviews from the end of year 10 and through Y11. Students will be supported to explore their skills and career options and to develop a solid action plan to support transition to Y12. The MYCareer programme will trial different methods of support such as using online tools and digital badges and also meetings of different lengths.
Professional development for schools
The partnering schools will participate in CPD facilitated by MY Trust in order to improve their careers support to SEN Support students and career support generally, particularly in relation to Gatsby Benchmarks 1,3 and 8.
MY Trust will share 6 open access webinars to reflect the training and learning developed throughout the programme.
Research and evaluation
At the end of the programme we will report back to the Careers and Enterprise Company and share the learning with schools and agencies across the South East. This will form part of the Career and Enterprise Company’s research and recommendations on Personal Guidance support.
