What is it?
The purpose of NCS is to get the young people from a wide range of backgrounds working together to plan and put together a social action project within their local community. NCS aims to help young people aged 16 and 17 (whether at school, college, work or unemployed) gain new skills, challenge themselves, gain confidence and improve their C.V all whilst doing something positive in the community!
What will I be doing?
Meeting your team and understanding NCS with icebreakers and team building games.
Phase 1: Adventure
Starting to work as a team, develop skills and challenging yourself by taking part in various outdoor activities such as high ropes and abseiling. Coach departure times and locations vary between programmes.
Phase 2: Discovery
Meeting local organisations and community members to get inspiration for your social action project. You will also get to complete an Emergency First Aid course. Summer programmes also mean you get to live away from home in university accommodation and practice independent living!
Phase 3: Social Action Planning
This is when you start putting your plan into action and fundraise to deliver your social action project!
Phase 4: Social Action Delivery
This is when you carry out and deliver your Social Action project out in your local community.
Phase 5: Celebration
Presenting your project, receiving your well earned certificate and celebrating your achievements!
Phase 6: NCS Extra
Continuing social action and volunteering, once you complete a further 16 hours, you will receive another certificate!

It may be that you are very shy, have a learning disability, take medication or sometimes have difficulty managing your emotions. We want to support you in the way that best works for you so that you and the group have the best time possible.
