To celebrate Volunteers week and #iwill pledge day a group of young people carried out a project at Chatham Memorial Synagogue, clearing an area in the cemetery, tidying up the garden and painting an outdoor structure. We had a wonderful couple of days and we managed to fill 102 rubble sacks with garden waste. Some of the ladies from the synagogue put on a lovely tea and served us all on Thursday afternoon. They had made traditional Jewish food and cakes and explained to our young people about the festivals that the foods are used in and why. It was a really lovely end to the project that also provided cultural awareness and intergenerational interaction.

Doris the dinosaur was created later in the week by some young people. Doris will be mounted on the fence in Cams garden near the newly installed pond so he will be able to see it from his bedroom. Cam has a life limiting illness and together with the Sunlight Rotary we have been supporting in making his garden accessible and fun for him.

Thank you to all of our young people that have given their time making our communities stronger through social action.
