The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a Government initiative to create a more cohesive, responsible and engaged society through young  people from different backgrounds working together to complete a social action project which benefits their local community.  It is underpinned by the principles set out in the NCS ethos which include social mix, challenge, increased responsibility and independence, reflection, social action and inspiration.

The programme has been packed full of different opportunities:

  • An outdoor activity residential where participants challenged themselves and started to work as a team
  • The groups got to know different charities to see which projects they might like to support, gained a First Aid certificate and got to know more about their community
  • Fundraising through different activities
  • Delivering a social action project which the groups planned and fundraised for, making a positive difference to the local community.

On Thursday 6th December, you will hear from the teams about the projects that they have carried out over the last few weeks, making a positive change to the community and themselves!
