I worked for Kent Police between 1975-2012 and since being retired I am a Non-Executive Director of Medway NHS Foundation Trust. I first joined Kent Police as a police cadet before becoming a police officer in 1976. I worked as a Police Officer for 32 years across Kent including Gravesend, West Malling, Maidstone Police Headquarters and also several times in different ranks in Medway. My last posting (2006-2008) was as the Chief Superintendent in charge of policing the Medway towns. Throughout my career I have always been interested in supporting and developing activities which help young people. I also remember what it was like in 1975 to be given an opportunity as a police cadet - there are similarities with being an apprentice in 2011. I finally worked with a small team of people dealing with policy admin support for the Chief Constable and his team and reviewed reports before they were submitted to the then Kent Police Authority. I am really impressed that MYT really does what it says it will do..... all MYT staff are really passionate about young people, each person is an individual. MYT works with other organisations so that young people are supported and that everyone has the opportunity to achieve their potential. I am proud to be associated with Medway Youth Trust as one of its Trustees.
